2nd Annual ARC Gateway Adventure
for People with Disabilities - 2010
at Big Lagoon State Park

 On Saturday, October 23rd, 2010 the "2nd Annual ARC Gateway Adventure" was held at Big Lagoon State Park, in Pensacola Florida for the ARC Gateway Organization in Pensacola, FL.   ARC Gateway is an organization for people with developmental (physical and emotional) disabilities that assists clients in a variety of ways.  The event allowed people with disabilities a chance to spend a day in nature and experience many outdoor related activities.  Over 30 disabled people participated in the event and a total of over 75 people attended the event!

The event was hosted by Big Lagoon State Park!  A special thank you goes out to the management and staff of Big Lagoon!  Thanks very much to David Colbert (Park Manager) and Rick Argo (Assistant Park Manager) for approving and supporting the event.  A sincere thank you goes out to Park employees: Kiersten Wilson, Tammy Matthews, Mickey Quigley and Chris Telhiard for planning, hosting portions of the event and helping in numerous ways!  Thanks to Park Office staff for support during the event.
 
The event was sponsored by the Big Lagoon Chapter of the Kiwanis Club.  The Key Club of West Florida High School also assisted.  Lunch was also provided by the Kiwanis Club.  Sincere appreciation goes out to the Kiwanis and Key Club members!  Without the extensive support of the Kiwanis Club the event could not have happened.
 
Members of the Northwest Florida Environmental Conservancy also assisted at the event.  A special thanks to NWFLEC members that helped out: Tammy Matthews, Mickey Quigley and Martin and Maggie Haygood! 
 
A very special thank you goes out to Cathy Lauterbach of the Pensacola ARC Gateway Organization for her participation and assistance!

ARC Gateway Event for People with Disabilities - 2009
 
  On Saturday, October 24th, 2009 an event was held at Big Lagoon State Park, in Pensacola Florida for the ARC Gateway Organization in Pensacola, FL.   ARC Gateway is an organization for people with developmental (physical and emotional) disabilities that assists participants in a variety of ways.  The event allowed people with disabilities a chance to spend a day in nature and experience many outdoor related activities.  About 45 disabled people participated in the event and a total of about 80 people attended the event!

  This very special event would not have been possible without the help and support from everyone involved.  The day turned out to be a great opportunity and learning experience for all the participants from the Pensacola ARC program.  A sincere and deep thank you goes out to everyone involved!  We hope to host the event again in 2010.
